Clean, great owners, good food, cute!
This was a great place to stay. It was clean, cute, had a nice view out over the rainforest, had delicious (complimentary) breakfast that came with a choice of about 3 or 4 menu options. My choice included pancakes, a huge plate filled with fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. The room was great! The owners were fantastic. The main owner grew up in this house and has since converted it into the bed & breakfast. He lives on site so there is always someone around if anything is needed; The place is dedicated to conservation and recycling, which I love. The internet was strong and extended through the whole facility, so you can access wifi from your room. The only thing is the location. The location isn't poor at all, but just know that you'll have to walk about a 1/4 mile to get to the place from downtown. However, this is also nice because it is quieter at night as well. Also, the owner is a graphic designer on the side and provides you with a beautifully designed map that be put together which will help direct you to where all the cool things are in town. At such a reasonable price, I think this is one of the best places in town!

Great atmosphere and stay!
We only got to stay for a night in Monteverde and instantly regretted that! Camino Verde is a little hidden from the main area of town, but I liked that. We ended up arriving over 6 hours later than planned and Jose upgraded our room on arrival for free and met us outside after dark to show us where we could park and carried our bags for us. The breakfast was amazing and the main building was cute inside. Our room was dry and clean, and the extra blankets on the bed were a welcome surprise (typical CR places give one sheet, but in the Highlands, more can be necessary)--I was comfortable all night, not boiling or freezing.
We didn't have a problem with the internet, in fact it was better than at almost any other place we stayed on this trip. We only needed it though to update friends and check on reservations/money--you are on vacation, if you are using it for more than that, then I feel kinda bad for you and you shouldn't complain- if the internet goes out on you at any point in this awesome country, then its a major hint to get out and have some fun!
There were a few bugs when we arrived but, hey, its Costa Rica. If you can't handle that then choose a different country! and they were easy to pick up in a cup and put outside. Of the more negative reviews that I've read, it seems like those people were looking for accommodations in nice expensive hotels but at the budget price of a hostel. Be realistic and you won't be disappointed. Overall, I've spent 6 weeks in Costa Rica on 2 different trips and Camino Verde was nice and more than I expected for the price, plus Jose was wonderful--you can't beat Tico hospitality. Bonus- the Soda restaurant (second one up from the B&B) is FANTASTIC- great referral Jose!

Very nice!!!
Camino Verde is a small gem in Monte Verde. My friend and I drove from Manuel Antonio to Monte Verde very late at night. The reception area was supposed to be closed but Jose waited until we arrived almost at midnight. I really appreciated that and even more the advise that he gave us there. He gave us great advise and thanks to him we had the the best Zip line adventure in our life!! The place is a 5-10 minute walk to the center of Santa Elena. Breakfast is great, and the room had everything that we needed. There are couple of restaurants and market stores very nearby in case you don't want to walk to the center of Santa Elena. Most of the people staying there were couples and small group of friends. You can use the small kitchen to prepare your own food and hangout out in the dining area to meet other travelers. We stayed for only two days and we had a great time.

Much Love from Nigeriana
Hello all,
My name is Nicolette. My boyfriend, Christian and I, went to Costa Rica on my Spring Break (teacher of 30 crazy, loving Kindergarteners) and we stayed at Camino Verde. We loved Jose and our stay at Camino Verde. It was kinda difficult to find at first, in our rental car (by the way, the drive from Jaco to Santa Elena is on a super rocky road and inclining mountain, make sure your car has enough lift to overcome a treacherous terrain), but I called Jose and he helped us find our way. It's a quaint little place, that's cozy and has a cabin feel. We're not exactly high maintenance, so our cabin-ish feeling room with queen bed was good enough too -- it's not a SleepNumber or anything. Jose helped us figure out what to do in Monteverde (Yay!! Crazy Zip Line, "supermaning" over two mountains... boo day hike in the rainforest... only because it was uneventful. I heard the night hike is much better because most animals are nocturnal). I loved the delicious pancake, eggs, and fruit breakfast served every morning as well. I've definitely already recommended Camino Verde to friends and hopefully will be back soon!!! Much Love, Christian and Nicolette

Welcome home
We just returned from a month-long car tour of Costa Rica, and we pretty much saw it all. Our stay in Camino Verde was one of our most memorable stays in the whole adventure, and the primary reason was the hospitality of the owners and staff. We walked in the door and were greeted with "Welcome, my Friends!" by Andres, a rising star in the hospitality industry. And he proceeded to make us feel welcome indeed. During the busiest of tourism times, he found us a room, and when their facility was fully booked for subsequent nights, he called around to his competitors to find accommodations for us. Is that service? We were given great advice about the local music festival and were blown away by a performance by Editus, a Latin fusion group with amazing percussion/electric cellos/violins and guitars. Wow.
Relying on Andres' knowledge and pride in his work and country, I asked him what HE enjoyed doing in Costa Rica, for we were searching for ESSENCE in Costa Rica. I had a feeling his answer would have little to do with zip lines or river rafting. He drew up a map for us on the back of a napkin to Rio Celeste, and said to find Alex the tour guide there and his mom who runs the little restaurant at the park entrance... And you know what? Everyone around Rio Celeste knows Alex, Alex's mom, and all the rest when you get into the Rio Celeste neighborhood. It is the little gems like this that made our trip memorable, and it was only because of the caring and willingness to please by the staff at Camino Verde that this was possible. Andres was the bridge to our next adventure in the country.
When Andres finds time for a break from his hard work, he has our phone number. We'll pick him up at the airport and show him some of the essence of our area in Seattle. He'll probably bring his own coffee...
Room tip: Our room was across the street in the hotel he partners with with his aunt. A lovely upper floor unit with a view all the way to the Pacific.
